I–CAR Launches Photography Documentation Course

June 16, 2014—I–CAR announced Friday it will launch a new course in July for estimators and appraisers about documentation through photography.

The instructor-led, live demo course, Documentation and Digital Photography (DOC01), is aimed at training industry professionals on best practices when it comes to documentation and digital photography to ensure they take quality photos that accurately capture damage to vehicles.

The course will begin July 7. Participants use their own cameras, but will learn how to use varied types of equipment, from smartphones to higher-quality cameras.

“Documentation has become increasingly important in collision repair,” said Josh McFarlin, I–CAR director of curriculum and product development. “Repairers rely on documentation to record damage, insurers to assess damage, and customers to understand the status of their vehicle’s repair. Understanding exactly what needs to be documented—and how and when—can make or break quality documentation records.”The  three-credit hour course meets training requirements for Estimators and Auto Physical Damage Appraisers in I-CAR’s Professional Development Program. To register for the class, visit i-car.com.
