Photo tips, nature hike Saturday at Necedah National Wildlife Refuge

Two free events are on tap today at the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge.Photographers of all levels are invited to attend a beginner photography program, “Can You Capture It,” from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the Visitor Center. This indoor lecture will offer advice for capturing black-and-white photos, as well as tips and tricks for wildlife photography. All camera types and skill levels welcome.Grab binoculars and camera for a 1-mile guided nature hike in search of pollinators from 10 to 11 a.m. Learn to “read” flowers and decipher the colors that attract birds, the scents that attract moths, the shapes that attract flies, and even the nectar guides that attract bees and butterflies.WFor more information on public programming or a copy of refuge trail maps, e-mail Necedah@fws.gov or contact the refuge Visitor Center at 608-565-2551.The Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
