CULLOWHEE – Western Carolina University’s Office of Continuing and Professional Education will offer two photography workshops at the university’s instructional site at Biltmore Park Town Square in Asheville.
Both workshops will be led by professional photographer Les Saucier.
The first workshop, “Adobe Lightroom Made Easy,” will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20. During the session, Saucier will help participants learn how to use Adobe Lightroom to enhance photos. He will teach the steps to import and catalog images and how to optimize images, demonstrate three key steps in getting the most from digital images, and cover the correct way to sharpen and print images. Participants also will learn how Lightroom can assist in productivity, organization and creativity. This class will benefit both beginner and intermediate digital photographers.
The second workshop, “Digital Photography Made Easy,” will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20. Participants will learn best practices in getting started in digital photography. Saucier will share concepts to help photographers get the best out of digital SLR or compact system cameras, as well as enhance the photographer’s creative vision. Topics for the session will include an introduction to digital photography, understanding the camera, exposure modes, autofocus systems and image quality settings. Participants also will learn the fundamentals to improve composition, understand the basics of exposure and understand shutter speeds. Photo techniques to be discussed include landscapes, Macro, wildlife, portrait and black-and-white photography. Participants will also learn about lenses and “the secret” to photography.
The cost is $99 per class and will include lunch. Each workshop is limited to 20 participants.
