Top 10 Photography Tips for Perfect Christmas Photos — Larger …

No matter what your talent behind the camera may be, Christmas is traditionally a time not only for turkey but for cries of  ’Cheese!’ followed by the click-clicking of the shutter as parents all over the world attempt to preserve these moments forever.

My own method is very simple. I point the camera and I press the button. Sometimes my subjects are in too much of a hurry to pose for me and I end up with an obscure blur across the picture resulting in me hitting the trash-can button and deleting it in favour of another try. There is no doubt that with the digital age we are spared the concerns our parents had of not wasting the 24 or 36 exposures available on the reel. We’re lucky enough that if at first we don’t succeed we can try and try (and try and try) again.

Over the years the camera world has grown to cater for every need; from the easy-to-use point-and-shoots for people like me, to the SLR hobbyist taking their next steps, right through to the professional whose needs and requirements cover every aspect of photography perfection.

I admit that whilst my longing to own a DSLR of my own, and to learn the tips and tricks of the pros has existed for years, I accept that the day is far off. For now, I am content to settle for a lightweight, functional yet ooh-so-lovely model that gives the results I need with the hassle I don’t. I mean, have you ever tried getting 12 children to look at the camera at the same time without needing to take 24 consecutive photos and hoping that at least one turns out usable?

This year though, even I can attempt to achieve pro-like effects thanks to these top 10 tips to take beautiful Christmas photos provided by the professionals themselves:
