Canon Announces Five New Cameras

Canon has introduced new additions to its PowerShot line of digital cameras including the super-zoom PowerShot SX700 HS, the PowerShot D30, the Elph 150 IS, Elph 140 IS, and PowerShot Elph 135.

The PowerShot SX700 HS features a 16.1-megapixel CMOS sensor and a 30x optical zoom. Users can record video in 1080p HD and it also features a “hybrid mode,” allowing users to record up to four seconds of video at 720p while taking a still image. It boasts Wi-Fi connectivity and NFC compatibility, allowing users to pair the camera with a compatible Android device to upload photos or control the camera remotely. The PowerShot SX700HS will be available in red and black starting this March for $349.99.

Canon’s waterproof model, the PowerShot D30, is a ruggedized digital camera that is waterproof up to 82-feet, temperature resistant from 14 to 104 degrees, and shockproof up to 6.5 feet. It boasts a 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor and features built in GPS that will automatically geo-tag photos. With the Sunlight LCD mode, which reduces glare in outdoor settings, users can go from shooting underwater to dry land without having to adjust any settings. The Powershot D30 will be available starting in blue this April for $329.99.

With the new Elph lineup of cameras, Canon has included 720p HD video recording, Digic 4+ Image processors, and each camera comes with an “Eco mode” that will save battery life. The PowerShot Elph 150 IS boasts 20-megapixels and a 10x optical zoom with eight different shooting modes. The PowerShot Elph 140 IS and PowerShot Elph 135 both have a 16-megapixel sensor and an 8x optical zoom. The PowerShot Elph 150 IS, 140 IS, and 135 IS will all be available this month for $149.99, $129.99, and $119.99 respectively.
