The Sony a7 system represents a significant technological advancement for photographers and videographers, and to help you understand their full potential, B&H has brought together a panel of specialists for a live webcast discussion of this new and groundbreaking system.

Sony recently released, to great acclaim, the world’s first full-frame digital camera system with interchangeable lenses, housed in a compact mirrorless body. These are the a7 and the a7R. Photographers are interested, they’re experimenting, and they are curious for more. Many photographers who are invested in Canon, Nikon, and Leica lenses are adapting their lenses to this compact system.

Brian Smith
Pulitzer-Prize-winning photographer Brian Smith was among the first professional photographers in the world to use the Sony a7R. His bold, iconic portraits of celebrities, athletes, and executives have appeared in Sports Illustrated, ESPN The Magazine, Time, People, Esquire, Rolling Stone, Forbes, and GQ. His photographs have been exhibited in the Library of Congress, the American Museum of Natural History, Chelsea Art Museum, and the Aperture Gallery. He’s a Sony Artisan of Imagery, and author of Secrets of Great Portrait Photography and Sony A7 / A7R: From Snapshots to Great Shots.

Mark Weir
Mark is Senior Technology Manager for Sony’s Digital Imaging business in the U.S. As a 15-year veteran, he is well-versed in the technology and design of digital cameras. With of a love of photography that spans nearly 50 years, he has been a working pro, a camera planner, and a photo educator.

Gabriel Biderman
A self-taught travel and fine art photographer for over 20 years, Gabriel loves the “process” of creating the image. He’ll use anything from classic film cameras, Lensbabies, and alternative processes, to the latest digital technology, including mirrorless cameras. He has given talks and workshops on night photography for the last five years, and has taught for The Rocky Mountain School of Photography, Woodstock Center for Photography, and the Bannerman Trust. Gabriel’s work has been exhibited in New York, London, San Francisco, and Hawaii. Gabriel is currently the senior member of the Pro Photo Marketing Department at B&H.
